Granulated Sugar

Water or Milk

Pure vanilla

White Chocolate Chips

Coarsely Chopped Nuts **

Directions

  1. ** Pecans, walnuts, almonds or hazelnuts.
  2. PREHEAT oven to 375F (190C) COMBINE flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
  3. Mix well.
  4. CREAM shortening, sugars, egg, water (or milk) and vanilla in large bowl on medium speed of electric mixer, until light and creamy.
  5. Add dry ingredients on low speed, mixing until just blended.
  6. Stir in white chocolate chips and nuts of your choice.
  7. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet, leaving room between cookies for spreading.
  8. BAKE at 375F (190C) for 7-9 minutes.
  9. Cookies will still appear soft and moist when baked but will firm up on cooling.
  10. Cool slightly, then remove to cooling rack.
  11. Preparation time: 15 mins.
  12. Baking time: 9 mins.
  13. Excellent for freezing.
  14. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
